The Delhi High Court has granted an interim suspension of sentence to Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav in connection with multiple cheque bounce cases. This decision allows Yadav’s release from jail until March 18. The court ordered him to furnish a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and surrender his passport.
Yadav’s release was approved after a sum of Rs 1.5 crore was deposited in the complainant company’s bank account. The court emphasized that Yadav must be present during the next hearing or through video conferencing. The actor’s niece is set to get married on February 19 in Shahjahanpur, for which interim relief was requested.
The Delhi High Court had previously directed Yadav to surrender before the Jail Superintendent by February 4 due to his failure to meet settlement commitments. Despite being granted multiple opportunities, Yadav had not made any payments for nearly a year. The court had suspended his sentence in 2024 in cheque bounce cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
