Education Minister Ashish Sood praised the Delhi High Court’s decision to pause school fee increases until March 12, labeling it a significant win for the public. He emphasized that this move demonstrates the government’s resolute stance against the exploitative practices of the “fee-mafia.”

Sood highlighted the long-standing struggle faced by Delhi parents due to arbitrary fee hikes, underscoring the relief brought by the court’s intervention. He mentioned that the School Level Fee Regulation Committee (SLFRC) will be established post the March 12 hearing, ensuring no immediate fee increments.

The Minister pointed out that the court’s ruling signifies the dismantling of a deep-rooted network involving the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), select NGOs, and private school managements. He credited this outcome to the collective efforts of the people of Delhi, who have now been freed from this exploitative alliance.

Sood warned schools against charging excessive fees for the upcoming academic year, stressing that any overcharged amount will be scrutinized and rectified by the Department of Education post the court’s final decision. He reiterated that schools are only permitted to collect the same fees as the previous academic year for the subsequent session, ensuring transparency in the education system.
