Taking action on the ongoing waterlogging problem at Dera Mandi Road near Mandi Village, Delhi’s PWD and Water Minister, Parvesh Sahib Singh, conducted an inspection in the Chhatarpur area. The Minister, along with senior officials, assessed the road, drainage network, and sewer system following heavy rainfall that led to water accumulation on Dera Mandi Road.
Efforts are underway to alleviate the situation, with the deployment of PTO pumps to continuously drain out the collected water from the affected area. Officials highlighted that the location is a natural low-lying point where rainwater tends to gather during intense downpours. Due to the absence of a previous drainage outlet towards Haryana, the water now remains trapped at this spot, causing recurrent waterlogging during heavy rains.
In response to the issue, plans have been made for the construction of a new precast RCC drain from Dera Mandi Road to Dera Bhati Road, connecting to Bandh Road for pumping water into the SSN Marg drain within Delhi. This project aims to offer a lasting drainage solution and enhance stormwater management in the region. Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh emphasized the importance of addressing infrastructure challenges through strategic planning and sustainable engineering solutions to prevent waterlogging effectively.
