The final morning of 2025 brought challenges for Delhi-NCR residents as dense fog, severe cold, and hazardous air quality disrupted daily life in North India. The region experienced a sharp temperature drop, low visibility, and poor pollution levels, leading to travel disruptions for many. Minimum temperatures ranged from 6 to 9 degrees Celsius, intensifying the cold wave, with thick fog reducing visibility to near zero in key areas like Anand Vihar and India Gate Circle.
The dense fog not only affected road travel but also impacted air traffic at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Flight operations were conducted under CAT III protocols due to the fog, causing delays and cancellations. IndiGo, India’s largest airline, issued a travel advisory warning passengers about potential disruptions in northern India airports. The airline advised travelers to check their flight status and anticipate delays or cancellations due to reduced visibility.
Weather experts have cautioned that foggy conditions may persist, urging commuters to be cautious. Authorities recommend limiting unnecessary travel during early morning hours and staying informed through official advisories as winter conditions tighten their hold on the region.
