Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu and Commission for Air Quality Management Chairperson Rajesh Verma met to address pollution control measures in Delhi. They focused on enhancing coordination to improve air quality, crucial for public health and a sustainable future. Efforts emphasized the implementation of pollution-control measures and long-term strategies for environmental challenges in the National Capital Region.
The CAQM Sub-Committee decided to revoke Stage-I actions of the GRAP across the NCR on May 29. However, strict adherence to statutory directions and guidelines by all concerned state agencies was urged. The aim is to maintain improved air quality levels and prevent deterioration into the ‘Poor’ category.
Authorities stressed the importance of following regulations from various environmental bodies to sustain the improved AQI levels. The Sub-Committee will continuously monitor air quality and make decisions based on forecasts to uphold Delhi’s air quality standards.
