The East District Anti-Narcotics Squad of Delhi Police apprehended three individuals, including two foreigners, in connection with an alleged drug distribution network in the capital. The seized items included 21.09 grams of MDMA, 30 grams of ganja, three scooters, and two mobile phones. This operation was part of Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities and promote a drug-free environment.
The arrested individuals were identified as John, a 35-year-old Senegalese national believed to be a drug supplier; Diwakar, a 27-year-old resident of Baba Colony in Burari, Delhi, suspected of local drug peddling; and Solomon, a 37-year-old Nigerian national described as the source of the narcotics. A specialized team from the Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS) of East District, led by Inspector Arun Kumar and ACP (Operations) Pawan Kumar, was instrumental in apprehending the suspects.
Following a tip-off received on June 30, the team set up a trap near Star City Mall on the Delhi-Noida Link Road to intercept John, who attempted to evade arrest by fleeing on his scooter. Despite his efforts, the police managed to apprehend him after a brief chase and recovered a significant amount of MDMA from his possession. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged at Mayur Vihar Police Station under the NDPS Act.
Further investigations based on John’s disclosures led to the arrest of Diwakar, who was allegedly purchasing MDMA from John for personal use before transitioning into drug peddling. Diwakar was apprehended with MDMA and ganja in his possession. The interrogation of these individuals also led to the identification and arrest of Solomon, another alleged supplier of narcotics.
The total seizure included a substantial quantity of MDMA and ganja, along with scooters and mobile phones used in the transportation of illicit substances. The estimated value of the seized drugs in the international market is around Rs 4 lakh. The arrests have disrupted an active drug supply chain in the area, and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the network completely.
