Delhi Police took down an illegal gambling den located in a two-storeyed jhuggi in Vikaspuri, capturing four suspected gamblers. The raid, which recovered around Rs 74,070 in suspected stake money and gambling-related materials, was executed following specific information received by the Special Staff on July 7. Inspector Rajesh Maurya led the raiding team, supported by the ACP (Operations) and senior officers overseeing the operation.
During the raid, four individuals were caught actively participating in gambling, with 16 others present at the scene. The seized items included the suspected stake money, satta parchis, a chakri, and number charts believed to be used for illicit gambling activities. Shahid was identified as the alleged mastermind of the gambling ring, with a history of involvement in five similar cases. His associate, Akram, responsible for collecting stake money, was also implicated.
Shahid and Akram were not present during the raid, prompting ongoing efforts by the police to locate and apprehend them to determine their full roles in the illegal gambling setup. The four detained suspects were named as Shekhar (24), Sachin (22), Md. Nadeem (31), and Sahil (19), each with prior criminal involvements. The seized items, including cash and gambling materials, have been confiscated as evidence, with investigations continuing to uncover additional associates and the full scope of the illegal gambling network in the area.
