The Delhi Police Crime Branch successfully resolved a high-profile kidnapping and murder case reported at Borio Police Station in Sahibganj district, Jharkhand. The accused, who had fled to Delhi after the incident, was captured through a joint effort between the Delhi Police and Jharkhand Police.
The case, filed under Sections 140(1), 103(1), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Borio, Sahibganj, Jharkhand, involved the disappearance of Champai Marandi under suspicious circumstances. The investigation led to the recovery of the victim’s body from a jungle area about 10 days post the crime, prompting the addition of murder charges.
The breakthrough occurred when Head Constable Gaurav received reliable information about one of the suspects, Sukhdev Murmu alias Tala, near Hanuman Mandir in Yamuna Bazar, Delhi. It was disclosed that the accused had confessed to his involvement in the murder, along with his accomplices, in his hometown in Sahibganj district.
