In a swift operation, Delhi Police arrested two individuals involved in an attempted murder in Chhawla following a gunfire exchange in Dwarka. The incident occurred on April 17 in Shyam Vihar Phase 2, where armed assailants on a motorcycle tried to shoot a complainant at close range, but the weapon malfunctioned. Within 24 hours of the incident, the case was resolved.
Acting on specific intelligence, a team from AATS Dwarka intercepted the suspects, Rocky and Sumit alias Koki, near Urban Extension Road at 5:35 a.m. on Sunday. When asked to surrender, Rocky fired at the police team, hitting a constable’s bulletproof vest. The police responded with controlled self-defense, injuring Rocky and apprehending him, while Sumit was subdued with a loaded firearm.
Rocky, who attempted to shoot during the initial incident, was found with a pistol and cartridges, while Sumit was carrying another firearm. Both suspects were detained, and the motorcycle used in the crime was recovered. Rocky was taken to a hospital for treatment, and new cases were filed against them under additional legal provisions.
The police hailed the operation as a success, emphasizing their commitment to “Zero Tolerance Against Crime” and the swift apprehension of criminals involved in serious offenses.
