Deniz Undav’s impact off the bench turned the tide for Germany as they secured a 2-1 victory over Cote d’Ivoire in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group E match at Toronto Stadium. Undav, scoring a brace within eight minutes, now boasts nine goals from his last eight appearances for Germany. The thrilling match saw Cote d’Ivoire initially take the lead before Undav’s game-changing performance.

Germany’s Kai Havertz had an early chance with a header that narrowly missed the target, while Joshua Kimmich’s precise cross was saved by Cote d’Ivoire’s goalkeeper Yahia Fofana. Despite an initial disallowed goal for Germany, Cote d’Ivoire capitalized on a counterattack, with Franck Kessie scoring the opener after a rebound from Amad Diallo’s shot.

In the second half, Germany’s coach made crucial substitutions, bringing on Nadiem Amiri and Undav, who swiftly equalized with a header from Amiri’s accurate cross. As the game approached stoppage time, Undav sealed the win for Germany with a composed finish, securing their spot in the knockout stage. Germany now awaits the outcome of the Curaçao-Ecuador match to determine their final standing in the group.
