In response to recent tariff threats by US President Donald Trump concerning Greenland, an emergency summit was planned by the European Council in Brussels. However, Trump later announced the withdrawal of planned tariffs on eight European countries, citing progress in discussions with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding Greenland and the Arctic region.
