Rains are expected in certain areas of West Bengal in the next two days due to a depression in the Bay of Bengal, as per the Regional Meteorological Centre. South Bengal, including districts like Jhargram, West Midnapore, and South 24 Parganas, may experience light rain with thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday. The forecast indicates a dry spell in Bengal for the following week, with no heavy rain expected.

The Regional Meteorological Centre official in Kolkata’s Alipore mentioned that the Bay of Bengal’s weather disturbance might lead to rain in specific districts, though heavy rainfall is not anticipated. In north Bengal, including Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong districts, rain is also likely due to a western disturbance. Over the next two days, a slight increase in minimum temperatures across the state is projected, with Kolkata and surrounding areas possibly reaching 21 degrees Celsius.

Kolkata and its neighboring regions are forecasted to have predominantly cloudy skies on Sunday and Monday, with a possibility of rain after a prolonged winter season. This weather pattern could impact agriculture, particularly potato cultivation, which is currently at the stage of being stored in cold storage facilities. On Saturday, Kolkata and nearby areas saw a normal minimum temperature of 19.5 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 31.3 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal. Humidity levels ranged from 38 to 83 percent.
