Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar addressed concerns about Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan’s absence from Davanagere campaigning, emphasizing that the party’s strength lies in its ideology and workers, not individual leaders. Shivakumar’s statement, made during his campaign visit with AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, comes amidst perceived power struggles within the party.
In response to queries regarding internal discord in Davanagere, Shivakumar reassured that the party has resolved differences and is united in its efforts. He highlighted the inclusive approach of the Congress party, acknowledging the contributions of late Shamanur Shivashankarappa in serving various communities.
Expressing confidence in the Congress candidate for Davanagere South, Samarth Shamanur Mallikarjun, Shivakumar predicted a significant victory margin in the upcoming bye-election. Regarding Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan’s involvement in campaigning, Shivakumar mentioned Khan’s responsibilities in the Kerala elections and the engagement of other minority leaders in campaign activities.
Shivakumar also defended the party against accusations of minority appeasement, citing initiatives to empower minority communities through legislative positions and representation in various sectors. He underscored the party’s commitment to serving all sections of society and highlighted ongoing efforts to address rising commodity prices through welfare schemes.
