Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh addressed allegations made by Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari regarding the allotment of 500 acres of land in Madhya Pradesh. Singh confirmed that after verifying official records, it was found that the land was allotted to a government trust, not a private entity. The party revised its stance based on this information.
Singh emphasized that the land in question was allocated to a government trust where the Chief Minister serves as the ex officio chairman. He clarified this during a press conference in Barwani. The controversy arose when Patwari accused Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of being linked to the trust that received the land allotment.
The Congress leader stressed that correcting the party’s position on this issue should not be misconstrued as absolving the government of other potential wrongdoings. Singh highlighted various concerns in Madhya Pradesh, including illegal sand mining and irregularities in land-use conversions. He also questioned the financial transparency of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in relation to Covid-19 relief funds.
Singh called for transparency in government decisions and accountability to the public on critical issues. He insisted that the government should provide factual responses to address concerns raised by the public, including matters related to illegal activities and financial disclosures.
