Responding to criticism over Janhvi Kapoor’s objectification in the rural sports drama ‘Peddi’ starring Ram Charan, director Buchi Babu Sana issued an apology. Following feedback, the team decided to revise the contentious parts of the film.
‘Peddi’, a rural sports action film with Ram Charan in the lead, premiered on June 4, receiving a warm welcome from fans. However, certain scenes, especially those involving the heroine, faced backlash for their portrayal, particularly in the romantic track criticized for normalizing harassment and non-consent.
In light of the situation, Buchi Babu Sana, the film’s director, released a statement. He emphasized the importance of cinema entertaining, inspiring, and respecting audiences, expressing regret if any part of the movie was perceived as disrespectful or objectifying towards women.
