Dismissing social media rumors, the makers of the much-anticipated biopic of music legend Ilaiyaraaja clarified that Director Arun Matheswaran remains part of the project. Matheswaran will helm the biopic after completing his current film ‘DC’ with Lokesh Kanakaraj in the lead. The film’s publicist refuted claims circulating online that Matheswaran had exited the project, affirming his continued involvement.
Actor Dhanush is set to portray Ilaiyaraaja in the official biopic, marking the beginning of a collaborative production venture between Connekkt Media and Mercuri. Meanwhile, Arun Matheswaran’s upcoming film ‘DC,’ starring Lokesh Kanakaraj, features actress Wamiqa Gabbi in her acting debut. The film’s teaser hints at a gangster drama, showcasing Kanakaraj as Devdas and Gabbi as Chandra in intense sequences.
Scheduled for release this year, ‘DC’ boasts dialogues by Arun Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob, with additional screenplay by Arun Ranjan. Anirudh is handling the music, Mukesh G is on cinematography, G K Prasanna is editing, and Kannan S is in charge of art direction. Notably, Lokesh Kanakaraj underwent martial arts training in Thailand for the film, following his directorial work on ‘Coolie’ starring Rajinikanth.
