Director Michael Bay, known for his work on the military drama ’13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi’, is currently engaged in a new project centered around a significant military operation. This upcoming film will focus on the rescue of two pilots from Iran during Operation Epic Fury earlier this year. The operation, approved by President Trump in February 2026, involved a daring military action against Iran.
Bay is collaborating with Universal Pictures on this venture. The film will be produced by Bay and Erwin Stoff, with Scott Gardenhour handling the writing duties. Gardenhour, along with Stoff, previously worked with Bay on “13 Hours.” The script is being adapted from an upcoming book by Mitchell Zuckoff, scheduled for publication by HarperCollins in 2027.
Michael Bay has a history of working closely with the U.S. military to bring authenticity to his films, such as the ‘Transformers’ series and ’13 Hours.’ Following the successful rescue mission, President Trump expressed his excitement on Truth Social, praising the United States Military for executing one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History.
