The Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) recognized the Indian Davis Cup team for their win against the Netherlands in the Davis Cup Qualifiers at the Delhi Open ATP Challenger event. India, ranked 33rd, triumphed over the sixth-ranked Dutch team with a 3-2 score in Bengaluru, securing a place in the next round of the Qualifiers set for September. Notable attendees at the event included officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, DLTA, and the International Lawn Tennis Club of India.
Rohit Rajpal, DLTA President, highlighted the association’s commitment to promoting tennis in India, stating, “At DLTA, we are dedicated to bolstering Indian tennis across all levels, and honoring our Davis Cup team aligns with our broader vision.” Sumit Nagal, India’s top player and a member of the victorious team, also shared his thoughts during the felicitation ceremony. Nagal praised his teammate Dhakshineswar Suresh for his outstanding performance in the matches against the Netherlands.
Looking ahead, Nagal acknowledged the upcoming challenging match against Korea in September, recognizing the tough competition they pose. He emphasized the importance of maintaining good form and giving their best to secure a victory in the upcoming Davis Cup encounter.
