The DMK has criticized the Tamil Nadu government for the recent stabbing of a 14-year-old boy in Chennai, accusing the authorities of misusing the police machinery and failing to maintain law and order. According to DMK spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan, the police are reportedly focusing on silencing government critics rather than ensuring public safety.
Elangovan alleged that the police’s actions are biased and not in favor of the common people. He claimed that immediate police action is taken only when it concerns the Chief Minister personally, highlighting a lack of attention to general law enforcement issues. The DMK spokesperson also criticized the silence of political parties and civil society regarding the incident, contrasting it with responses under previous administrations.
Furthermore, Elangovan reiterated the DMK’s opposition to the proposed Mekedatu dam project and urged Chief Minister Vijay to address Tamil Nadu’s concerns during any meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The DMK wishes for the Chief Minister to effectively represent the state’s stance against the dam project in discussions with the Prime Minister.
