New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS) Purani Dilli 6 registered a comfortable 27-run victory over the New Delhi Tigers in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, thanks to a brilliant batting display from Aryan Gaur and a disciplined bowling performance.

Batting first, Purani Dilli 6 posted 177/8 in their 20 overs, with opener Aryan Gaur leading the charge. The right-hander played a sensational knock of 91 off just 42 balls, smashing 11 fours and four sixes. He dominated the Tigers’ bowling attack and gave his side a strong start.

Purani Dilli 6 looked set for a much bigger total before the innings lost momentum after Gaur was dismissed by Hrithik Shokeen in the 13th over. His wicket triggered a collapse as the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals and slipped to 155/7.

However, Digvesh Singh Rathi provided a useful late boost with an unbeaten 19 off just 9 balls, helping Purani Dilli 6 finish with a competitive total of 177.

For New Delhi Tigers, Hrithik Shokeen was the standout bowler. He produced an excellent spell and finished with 4/18 in four overs. Laxman also impressed, claiming 4/29 in his four-over spell.

Chasing 178, New Delhi Tigers never really found the momentum they needed. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 119/5, making the chase increasingly difficult.

Captain Himmat Singh fought hard and top-scored with 36 off 25 balls, but he did not receive enough support from the other end. The Tigers eventually finished on 150/8 in their 20 overs, falling 27 runs short of the target.

Purani Dilli 6 bowlers kept things tight throughout the innings. Rajneesh Dadar was the pick of the bowlers with 3/26 in four overs, while Pankaj Jaswal delivered an economical spell, returning 1/22 in four overs, including a maiden over, to help his side seal a comfortable victory.
