The draft electoral roll prepared under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Kerala has been released, revealing that more than 24 lakh names have been left out. Before the revision, Kerala had 2,78,50,856 voters on the rolls. Out of the distributed enumeration forms, 91.35% have been received, with around 8.65% yet to submit their forms.
The Election Commission has marked 6,49,885 voters as deceased and 6,45,548 as “untraceable” during the enumeration process. A booth-level draft list with approximately 2.54 crore voters has been compiled and published based on the received forms. Steps are being taken to provide constituency-wise draft voter lists to all recognized political parties.
Voters can check their names on the Election Commission website by selecting their Assembly constituency, reviewing booth-wise details, or entering their EPIC number. The period for filing claims and objections will be open until February 21. Voters missing from the draft roll can submit claims during this time, while objections can be raised for the removal of wrongly included names. The final electoral roll is set to be published on February 21.
Special arrangements have been made for voters listed as “untraceable” who couldn’t submit forms during the SIR phase. Such voters can still be added to the rolls by submitting a declaration with Form 6 within the specified period. Electoral Registration Officers will notify voters with incomplete forms, ensuring no arbitrary removals and following a three-tier hearing process before any deletions.
Applications for inclusion of names can be made using Form 6, overseas voters through Form 6A, deletion of names with Form 7, and corrections or address changes with Form 8. The revision process emphasizes openness and public participation.
