Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson stole the show at the MET Gala 2026 in New York by donning a skirt alongside a black mohair tailcoat and bow tie. Walking hand-in-hand with his wife, Lauren Hashian, Johnson’s outfit was inspired by Polynesian culture, where men wear skirts as a symbol of masculinity. The designer detailed that the tailcoat featured over 350 meters of hand-pleated silk ribbons in a unique design.
Johnson expressed his comfort in the outfit, mentioning that in Polynesian culture, men wear skirts known as lavalavas. This isn’t the first time Johnson has challenged traditional masculinity norms. At CinemaCon 2026, he emphasized the importance of empowering women, stating that true masculinity involves supporting and championing women of all ages. The gala’s theme, “Costume Art,” provided a platform for Johnson to showcase his unique style and cultural influences.
Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour co-chaired the event, with Anthony Vaccarello and Zoe Kravitz leading the host committee. The star-studded gala also included notable personalities like Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Misty Copeland, and Sam Smith, among others.
