The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released updated dates for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh. The final voters’ list is now set to be published on March 6, 2026, based on the qualifying date of January 1, 2026. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh shared that the draft publication of the electoral roll will now occur on January 6, 2026.

The period for receiving claims and objections has been scheduled from January 6 to February 6, 2026, according to the CEO. Activities such as the notice phase, decision on counting forms, and disposal of claims and objections will take place from January 6 to February 27, 2026. The CEO of Uttar Pradesh confirmed that the final publication of the state’s electoral roll will be on March 6, 2026.

The ECI recently appointed Special Roll Observers (SROs) for intensive electoral roll revision in Uttar Pradesh and seven other states. These SROs will oversee the SIR of electoral rolls in various states, including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The ECI mentioned that the SROs have already commenced their duties and are expected to be present in these states two days a week until the final Electoral Rolls are released in February 2026.
