The eight individuals arrested in connection with the investigation into the embezzlement of funds meant for the Ram Temple donation will face a court hearing in Ayodhya through video conferencing. Police have decided not to seek their custody immediately but plan to do so later, once a comprehensive list of questions for interrogation is prepared.
Authorities have issued notices to approximately six banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda, and Canara Bank, to obtain information regarding the bank accounts and lockers of the arrested suspects, the Trust, and other related individuals. Around 70 to 80 people are currently under scrutiny, with notices being issued to them gradually, and their statements are set to be recorded.
In the ongoing investigation, the mobile phones of all the accused will undergo forensic examination at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). It is suspected that the accused may have deleted conversations from their phones, prompting efforts to recover the deleted data.
Earlier, the Ayodhya police visited the SBI branch at Naya Ghat as part of the probe into the alleged misappropriation of donations intended for the Ram Temple. The primary bank account of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is held at this SBI branch, where investigators are looking into the potential involvement of bank officials. The branch manager is expected to be questioned, along with two SBI employees, Ratnesh and Gagandeep, who supervised outsourced workers responsible for handling donations.
