The Election Commission of India released a second supplementary list of voters in West Bengal, resolving 27 lakh cases on the eve of the state’s crucial two-phase Assembly elections. Only 1,468 names were approved in this latest list, with six names rejected by the Appellate Tribunals.
In the first supplementary list published earlier, only 136 names were cleared, and two names were removed. The 1,468 voters cleared in the second list will be eligible to vote in the upcoming phase.
Following a Supreme Court directive, these voters will participate in the second phase of elections. Over 60 lakh names underwent judicial adjudication, resulting in 27 lakh names being deemed excludable.
