The Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners met with various national and state political parties in Chennai to prepare for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The meeting included discussions with parties like the Aam Aadmi Party, BJP, Congress, DMK, and AIADMK, among others. Political parties appreciated efforts to update voter lists but raised concerns about money power and inducements during elections.

Several parties requested increased monitoring through flying squads and surveillance teams to address violations effectively. There was a common demand for conducting the Tamil Nadu elections in a single phase to streamline the process and reduce political tension. Parties also urged consideration of major festival dates in the election schedule to avoid voter inconvenience.

CEC Gyanesh Kumar assured stakeholders of fair and transparent elections, emphasizing strict adherence to the law. The Election Commission’s commitment to curbing malpractices and ensuring a level playing field was reiterated during the meeting, reflecting a consultative approach towards the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
