The Election Commission of India has unveiled the timetable for the third phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across 16 states and three union territories. This revision aims to finalize the voters’ list between October 1 and December 23. The cut-off date for voter inclusion under the SIR ranges from July 1 to October 1.
The states and union territories where SIR-Phase III will take place include Telangana, Punjab, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi, and others. With Phase III initiation, the SIR exercise will cover the entire country except for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh. More than 3.94 lakh Booth Level Officers will conduct door-to-door verification of nearly 36.73 crore electors during this phase.
In Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Manipur, the qualifying date for SIR is July 1. The preparation and training in these states will start on May 20 and continue until May 29. House-to-House visits by Booth Level Officers will occur between May 30 and June 28. Draft electoral rolls will be published on July 5, with the final roll out on September 6.
In Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, the SIR qualifying date is July 1. The preparation phase will commence on May 25 and end on June 3. The draft electoral roll will be made public on July 10, and the final voters’ list will be released on September 11. In Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh, the SIR qualifying date is also July 1.
For Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Delhi, the SIR qualifying date is October 1. House-to-House visits by Booth Level Officers will be conducted between June 30 and July 29. Draft electoral rolls will be published on August 5, with the final roll out on October 7. In Telangana and Punjab, house visits by BLO will be held between June 25 and July 24, with the final electoral roll published on October 1.
