The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that its full bench, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, will visit West Bengal for a two-day tour starting March 8. The Commission will assess the ongoing judicial adjudication of voters’ documents and the readiness for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
During the visit on March 9, the Commission’s full bench will meet representatives of various political parties and receive a presentation from the Chief Electoral Officer on judicial adjudication and poll preparedness. Following this, a meeting with security and investigating agencies is scheduled.
On March 10, the Commission’s full bench will engage with top state bureaucrats and police officials, including Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty and acting Director General of Police Peeyush Pandey. Subsequently, they will meet electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers, and booth-level officers before returning to Delhi.
