The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to hold discussions with a Congress delegation regarding the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha election in Madhya Pradesh on June 18. The meeting between ECI officials and Congress leaders will occur at Nirvachan Sadan, the Commission’s headquarters in New Delhi.
In response to the Congress’s request, ECI Secretary Ashwani Kumar Mohal has scheduled an appointment for the delegation at noon on Wednesday. The rejection of Natarajan’s nomination papers, the sole candidate from Congress for the upcoming elections, was previously carried out by the Returning Officer.
Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath has accused the BJP of employing undemocratic tactics to secure a Congress Rajya Sabha seat. Allegations have been made that the ruling party is resorting to administrative and procedural maneuvers to disrupt the Congress campaign. Nath emphasized that despite such tactics, the Congress remains undeterred and confident of victory.
