Several electricity distribution companies have integrated with DigiLocker, India’s digital document wallet initiative. This move, part of the Digital India program, includes 68 electricity distribution companies and power departments nationwide, as confirmed by the IT Ministry. Consumers in 35 States and Union Territories can now conveniently access their digital electricity bills through the DigiLocker app, streamlining document management.
Prominent public and private utilities such as Dhakshinachal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, and others are now live on DigiLocker. These entities, including state power distribution companies and private utilities, collectively serve millions of consumers across the country. The integration of these 68 electricity utilities into DigiLocker signifies a significant step towards enhancing accessibility to essential citizen documents through a secure digital platform.
DigiLocker’s expansion of trusted issuers will offer citizens simplified access to government and utility-issued credentials. This development will also lead to more efficient digital service delivery for organizations. With electricity bills now available on DigiLocker, consumers can easily retrieve their latest bills digitally whenever needed, eliminating the hassle of searching through emails or maintaining physical copies. The integration ensures secure access to issuer-sourced documents from respective electricity service providers, enhancing convenience for consumers.
