Hollywood actor Elijah Wood is considering a potential return as Frodo in the upcoming Andy Serkis-directed movie ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’. While not confirming his return, Wood expressed his reluctance to see anyone else take on the role as long as he is able to play it. He mentioned Ian McKellen’s hints about the new movie at a convention last year.
Wood, in an interview with The Times U.K., expressed his excitement about the prospect of another film in the franchise. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the beloved Middle-earth world while also acknowledging the thrill of reuniting the cast.
The new film, scheduled for a late 2027 release, will bridge the gap between ‘The Hobbit’ prequel trilogy and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. Wood shared his thoughts on McKellen’s similar stance on not allowing anyone else to play Gandalf, emphasizing his attachment to the character of Frodo and his eagerness to witness the iconic characters on screen again.
Since his debut as Frodo in 2001 with ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’, Wood has been synonymous with the character, propelling him to stardom. The actor expressed his anticipation as a fan to see the magic of Middle-earth unfold once more on the big screen.
