Emergency medical teams at Ahmedabad’s 149th Jagannath Rath Yatra handled 41 incidents by 5 p.m. on Thursday, with fainting being the most common issue along the procession route. EMRI 108 reported attending to a total of 41 emergency cases, including fainting, first aid needs, falls, breathing problems, road accidents, abdominal pain, convulsions, and other medical issues. Teams provided immediate assistance on-site and transferred patients to nearby hospitals when necessary.
During the event, a 40-year-old individual fainted near the Saraspur police chowki and received initial treatment before being taken to Sardaben Hospital. Another incident at Kalupur Bridge involved a person fainting, receiving on-site care, and later being transferred to the hospital. Additionally, a fall near the BBC Market in Kalupur was treated on-site before the patient was moved to LG Hospital for further care.
EMRI 108 deployed ambulances and response teams strategically along the procession route to ensure prompt medical aid. The service collaborated with police, civic authorities, and hospitals to manage emergencies during the annual event. The Jagannath Rath Yatra, starting from Shree Jagannath Temple, is the second-largest in India after Puri, drawing numerous devotees.
