Energy security will be a major focus during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the UAE. Official sources suggest that two significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) concerning LPG and strategic petroleum reserves are likely to be finalized during the visit. India is in talks with the UAE regarding potential alternative routes to ensure stable energy supplies from the Gulf region, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.
During the visit, PM Modi is scheduled to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The discussions between the two leaders will encompass various bilateral issues, with a particular emphasis on energy cooperation, along with regional and international matters of mutual interest. This visit marks the first leg of PM Modi’s tour to five nations, including the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy.
In the subsequent legs of his journey, PM Modi will visit the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. In the Netherlands, he will engage with King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and Prime Minister Rob Jetten. The agenda includes discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in various sectors such as green transition, artificial intelligence, defense, and climate action.
Traveling to Sweden’s Gothenburg, PM Modi will hold talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to review bilateral relations comprehensively. The discussions will focus on boosting bilateral trade, collaboration in emerging technologies, startups, defense, space, and climate action. Additionally, both leaders are set to address the European Round Table for Industry, a prominent business leaders’ forum in Europe.
The visit to Norway will see PM Modi participating in the 3rd India-Nordic Summit and engaging in bilateral meetings. The summit aims to elevate India’s ties with Nordic countries, particularly in technology, innovation, renewable energy, sustainability, defense, space, and the Arctic. Finally, in Italy, PM Modi is scheduled to meet President Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, and visit the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
