Enforcement Directorate (ED) Director Rahul Navin inquired about the bureaucrats and police officers from the West Bengal government who were with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during raids conducted by ED officials at locations linked to the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC). Navin, currently in Kolkata for a three-day visit, reviewed ongoing investigations into financial irregularities with ED officials from the Kolkata regional office.
During a meeting, Navin requested information from the investigating officials involved in the simultaneous raids at I-PAC’s office in Salt Lake and the residence of I-PAC co-founder Pratik Jain in central Kolkata on January 8. The Chief Minister and her team reportedly visited these locations while the raids were ongoing, taking away files and electronic documents.
I-PAC has been serving as the vote strategy agency for the Trinamool Congress since 2020. Navin, during the review meeting, questioned the conduct of the bureaucrats and police officers present with the Chief Minister during the alleged interruption of the raid and search operations. He also inquired about the nature of the documents taken by the Chief Minister’s team.
The ED Director engaged with the agency’s legal team in Kolkata regarding the matter, seeking clarity on the events surrounding the raids and the conduct of officials during the interruptions.
