At the 129th meeting of the Enforcement Task Force (ETF) of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM), 64 violations were reported across key sectors during a review of enforcement actions over a 15-day period. The ETF meeting, held on Friday, aimed to assess enforcement actions and inspections conducted across the National Capital Region (NCR) from March 27 to April 10. A total of 162 inspections were carried out during this period, leading to the identification of 64 violations in crucial sectors.
The inspections, performed by the Commission’s flying squads, included 25 at Construction and Demolition (C&D) sites, 28 in the industrial sector, and 109 related to Diesel Generator (DG) sets. Out of the 64 violations reported, 14 were from C&D sites, eight from the industrial sector, and 42 from DG sets. Based on the inspection findings, recommendations were made for the closure of nine units, sealing of DG sets in 18 units, issuance of show-cause notices (SCNs) for 11 units, and imposing environmental compensation (EC) on six units.
The Task Force also reviewed actions taken post the previous ETF meeting on April 2, noting the issuance of a total of 46 closure, SCN, sealing, and EC letters during this period. These actions included nine from the industrial sector, six from C&D sites, and 31 from DG sets. Additionally, special enforcement drives were acknowledged, such as inspections on road dust mitigation by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram on April 7, where 126 violations were identified, prompting necessary corrective actions.
The Task Force stressed the importance of concentrated enforcement in priority sectors, specifically DG sets, C&D activities, industrial emissions, and road dust management. It highlighted the significance of enhancing inter-agency coordination and expediting follow-up actions to ensure effective compliance. The updated cumulative enforcement status as of April 17, 2026, was also reviewed, revealing a total of 26,834 units, projects, and entities inspected by the Commission’s flying squads.
