In a tragic incident in Karnataka’s Mysuru district, an engaged woman named Rakshita and her parents, Shivanna and Nagaratna, died by suicide after consuming poison. Rakshita was set to marry on June 24. The incident, allegedly linked to the circulation of private photos and videos, occurred in Kempaiyyanahundi village in T. Narasipura taluk.
The accused, identified as Ullas Gowda, who allegedly shared Rakshita’s private content with her fiancé, is being sought by the police. The family accused Gowda of trying to disrupt the impending marriage. Investigators are looking into how the accused obtained the private material and the extent of harassment caused to the girl.
Villagers expressed outrage over the incident and staged a protest demanding Gowda’s immediate arrest. They obstructed police from moving the bodies for post-mortem, insisting on the accused’s arrest first. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and have registered a case.
On a related note, in a separate incident on June 10, a garment trader in Mandya district allegedly killed his wife and son before taking his own life due to financial pressures. The deceased were identified as Prabhakar (65), Jyothi (55), and Santosh (28).
