State-owned Engineers India Limited has successfully finished the world’s longest horizontal directional drilling under the Brahmaputra River, spanning over 4 kilometers for a 26-inch pipeline. This significant achievement is part of the Paradip–Numaligarh Crude Oil Pipeline project, as stated by the company.
The company proudly announced the completion of the Brahmaputra HDD crossing, measuring 4,058 meters, marking a new world record for the longest Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crossing of a 26” pipeline. Engineers India highlighted their engineering prowess, innovation, and execution capability in challenging terrains through this feat.
This milestone surpasses the company’s previous record of 4,027 meters at the Ganga River on the same project, showcasing EIL’s commitment to engineering excellence and innovation. The Paradip–Numaligarh pipeline, designed for Numaligarh Refinery Ltd., is a crucial 1,635-kilometer energy corridor that will enhance India’s energy security and drive economic growth in the region.
EIL attributed the successful completion to close collaboration with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and other stakeholders. This achievement not only benefits the North East region but also contributes to the nation’s overall development, marking a significant milestone in complex pipeline infrastructure execution.
