The Chief Executive Officer of the England and Wales Cricket Board, Richard Gould, has announced a thorough review following England’s 4-1 Ashes loss. Gould mentioned that the team, led by Ben Stokes, will learn from this experience and aim to reclaim the Ashes in 2027. Despite moments of strong performance, including a hard-earned victory in the fourth Test in Melbourne, England’s inconsistency across conditions led Australia to retain the Ashes.
“We will derive valuable lessons from this tour and are committed to swift improvement. Our primary goal is to regain the Ashes in 2027. A comprehensive evaluation of the campaign is already in progress, covering tour planning, individual performance, adaptability, and response strategies,” Gould stated. England’s upcoming schedule includes a white-ball tour of Sri Lanka and the T20 World Cup, with their next Test series against New Zealand in June. Gould emphasized that necessary changes will be made in the upcoming months.
“The men’s team is now preparing for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in February, following the Sri Lanka tour, and we will make essential adjustments in the coming months,” Gould explained. He expressed gratitude towards Cricket Australia for their hospitality during the tour and acknowledged the unwavering support of the loyal fans. Gould assured that the team is dedicated to delivering stronger performances in the future to repay the faith of their supporters.
