The England football team is set to make Kansas City its base during the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Football Association (FA) has formally requested Swope Soccer Village in Missouri to serve as the team’s primary training facility for the tournament. Swope Soccer Village, a modern facility, has been chosen as England’s preferred training venue.
FIFA has yet to confirm the final base camps for participating nations officially. However, England is expected to secure their desired venue, as per reports by the BBC. England, placed in Group L, will play their group-stage matches at various locations in the United States. The team is scheduled to play Croatia in Arlington, Texas, on June 17, followed by matches against Ghana in Foxborough near Boston on June 23 and Panama in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on June 27.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel will oversee England’s campaign, aiming for global success. It remains uncertain whether the team will continue to operate from Missouri if they progress to the knockout stages, as travel logistics may necessitate a change in base.
Before heading to Kansas City, England will conduct a pre-tournament training camp in Florida. The camp will include two warm-up matches to help the squad acclimatize to local conditions ahead of the 48-team World Cup jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament is set to kick off on June 11, with the final scheduled for July 19.
England, with a rich yet unfulfilled history on the global stage, won the tournament in 1966 but has faced near misses in subsequent years. Their recent best performance was a fourth-place finish in 2018 in Russia, following quarterfinal exits in 2006, 2010, and 2022. Despite consistent appearances in the latter stages of major tournaments, England has been unable to secure a title.
