Estonian President Alar Karis highlighted India’s increasing global significance during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Karis noted that India’s global weight is on the rise, partly due to the EU-India free trade deal. He commended India for reducing Russian fossil fuel imports, which adds pressure to stop aggression against Ukraine.
During their bilateral discussions, both leaders reaffirmed the strong ties between India and Estonia and explored opportunities for collaboration in technology, trade, and global affairs. Karis, who arrived in New Delhi to attend the India-AI Impact Summit, was warmly received by Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, at the airport.
The visit of the Estonian President aims to bolster the longstanding relationship between India and Estonia, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs. Karis also participated in high-level events focusing on AI in education and the economy, emphasizing the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in learning and education.
Accompanied by a business delegation, the Estonian President’s visit coincides with the AI Impact Summit, a significant international forum with a focus on inclusive and responsible AI. Prime Minister Modi welcomed global leaders and tech experts to the summit, emphasizing the role of AI in various sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, and governance.
