China recently retaliated against EU duties on Chinese electric vehicles by imposing punitive provisional duties on dairy products.
The EU faced further discord with China over German automaker Volkswagen’s attempts to seek exemptions from electric vehicle duties. The shift towards protectionism, exemplified by the US under President Trump, has complicated trade dynamics, leading to escalating tensions over market access and state subsidies.
