External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in high-level discussions during his official visit to Trinidad and Tobago, focusing on bilateral cooperation, cultural connections, educational initiatives, and regional partnerships.
Upon his arrival in Trinidad and Tobago, Jaishankar expressed gratitude for the warm reception and anticipated a productive visit over the next two days.
During his stay, Jaishankar met with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to address bilateral and regional matters, emphasizing the importance of their discussions for cooperation and regional insights.
Furthermore, Jaishankar participated in a ceremony alongside Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar, where ‘Made in India’ laptops were presented to schoolchildren in Trinidad and Tobago, fulfilling a commitment made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting the historical ties between India and Trinidad and Tobago, Jaishankar underscored the warm and friendly relations shaped by shared history, anti-colonial struggles, and a special cricket bond between the two nations.
Additionally, Jaishankar announced the finalization of various agreements during his visit, including those related to tourism, solarization of government buildings, quick impact projects, and the establishment of an Ayurveda Chair.
Wrapping up his official tour in the Caribbean, Jaishankar concluded his visit to Trinidad and Tobago after engaging with Jamaica and Suriname, strengthening diplomatic relations across the region.
