Three members of a family from Gujarat tragically lost their lives in a fire that swept through a motel in Wooster, Ohio. The victims were identified as Hitesh Suthar, his wife Hina, and their 20-year-old daughter, Ishani.
Originally from Nadiad in Gujarat’s Kheda district, the family had relocated to the United States around two years ago and were residing at the Econo Lodge motel where Hitesh was employed. The fire started at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time at the motel where the family lived.
During the incident, as smoke and flames engulfed the building, Hitesh reached out to the motel’s front desk for help. Despite their efforts to seek assistance, the family was unable to escape the blaze and resorted to locking themselves in the bathroom to shield against the fire.
Emergency responders were unable to reach the family in time, and all three members succumbed to suspected suffocation. Firefighters encountered challenging conditions upon arrival, with heavy smoke and flames emanating from the motel’s roof. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
