Five members of a family, including a child and three women, tragically lost their lives when their car collided with a truck on National Highway-43 in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district. The fatal accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday near Bharaula village in the Siddha Baba area. The car was severely damaged in the collision, with one occupant trapped inside the wreckage.
The victims, residents of Leela village in Anuppur district, were on their way to Chitrakoot when the accident happened. Police reported that the car lost control and crashed into the rear of a truck on the highway. Authorities responded swiftly to the scene after being alerted about the incident, with rescue teams working to extricate the trapped occupant from the badly damaged vehicle.
Sadly, despite efforts to save them, two occupants succumbed to their injuries—one at the district hospital and another during treatment. The remaining three family members died on the spot due to the impact of the collision. Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Sharma confirmed that all five victims were from the same family and hailed from Leela village in Anuppur district.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident, with initial findings indicating that the speeding car rear-ended the truck. A case has been registered, and authorities are diligently examining all aspects of the tragic incident. Efforts are also underway to locate the truck driver and gather further evidence from the accident site.
