The family of Twisha Sharma, who tragically died by suicide in her matrimonial house in Bhopal on May 12, has requested an independent medical opinion from a top national institution to enhance public trust in the ongoing investigation. They filed an application before Magistrate Anudita Gupta, emphasizing the importance of transparency and the preservation of crucial forensic evidence related to Twisha’s death.
Twisha’s body has been at AIIMS Bhopal for the past eight days, with concerns raised by the family over potential delays that could impact vital findings. Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, emphasized that the application was submitted to eliminate any doubts regarding the circumstances surrounding her demise.
The family’s plea also includes a request for the immediate preservation and forensic securing of various digital data, such as Call Detail Records, tower location information, electronic communication records, and Internet usage logs linked to over 40 mobile numbers. They urged Giribala Singh, a co-accused in the case who obtained interim bail, to support their call for a second postmortem at AIIMS Delhi if she believes in her innocence.
Twisha’s father highlighted the importance of completing all forensic procedures to allow for a peaceful and dignified cremation of her remains once the investigations conclude. Additionally, the family expressed concerns about potential obstruction or delays by influential individuals that could jeopardize evidence integrity and impede the pursuit of justice.
The statement from Twisha’s family also criticized reports suggesting that a person out on bail misused official judicial premises to make public statements against the deceased. They questioned the fairness of the legal system for ordinary citizens when powerful figures are involved and raised doubts about the manipulation of public narratives against a deceased individual who cannot defend themselves.
