“I don’t know why my son did this. He was fine and mentally stable,” said Chikkanna, the father of Prashant, the 34-year-old man accused of killing three family members before dying by suicide in Bengaluru’s Kottigepalya locality on Saturday morning.
Chikkanna mentioned that there was no family quarrel the night before the incident. He left for work early that morning to open his laundry shop, believing everything was normal.
Prashant, who worked as a driver, seemed fine according to his father. Chikkanna expressed shock at the events and stated that he received a call about the tragedy around 10 a.m., unaware of what transpired.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), N. Yathish, reported that police were alerted between 8.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. about the tragic incident involving three murders and a suicide in the Kottigepalya area.
The police discovered five individuals residing in the house, with the father absent at work. Upon investigation, it was revealed that all the deceased had suffered assault injuries from a sharp weapon.
The motive behind the killings remains under investigation, with authorities gathering information from various sources, including family members and neighbors, to understand the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
Prashant, the accused, was a 34-year-old driver who allegedly killed his mother, grandmother, and brother-in-law before taking his own life by hanging. The victims were identified as Mangalamma, Nanjamma, and Satish, each with their own occupations.
The incident took place in Kottigepalya near the Ayyappa Temple, and the police are actively investigating the case, collecting evidence and statements to piece together the sequence of events.
