Twisha Sharma’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, refuted claims that skin tissue was discovered on a gymnastics belt not presented during her initial post-mortem. He questioned the source of this information, emphasizing the lack of official confirmation. The family’s next steps hinge on the forthcoming charge sheet from the CBI.
Twisha Sharma was found deceased at her marital residence in Bhopal’s Katara Hills on May 12. While her in-laws asserted suicide, her maternal relatives alleged foul play. In related developments, a Bhopal court extended the judicial custody of the victim’s mother-in-law and ex-district judge Giribala Singh, along with her son Samarth Singh, until July 28 due to non-cooperation during voice sample collection by the CBI.
The court granted the CBI fresh authorization to obtain voice samples from Giribala and Samarth Singh. Twisha Sharma’s family’s counsel, advocate Ankur Pandey, disclosed the CBI’s application for voice sample collection under the BNSS. Despite prior willingness, Samarth Singh declined to provide his voice sample during the recent jail visit, while Giribala Singh cooperated initially but later resisted further sampling.
The defence raised objections during the hearing, seeking clarity on the necessity of voice samples and access to case evidence. Following arguments from both sides, the magistrate permitted the CBI to proceed with voice sample collection. Additionally, the court addressed a request from Twisha’s family for a copy of the post-mortem report, which AIIMS Bhopal confirmed had been submitted to the CBI in a sealed envelope.
