Nearly six months after the tragic death of 27-year-old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in Noida’s Sector 150, his father, Rajkumar Mehta, expressed his disappointment in the delayed justice for his son. Yuvraj died on January 17 when his SUV fell into a water-filled construction trench during dense fog. Despite efforts to seek help, delays in the emergency response led to his drowning.
Rajkumar Mehta revealed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigated the incident promptly, but no significant actions have been taken against those responsible even after six months. Due to his inability to pursue legal action independently, he has decided not to approach the court. Instead, he urged the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure accountability to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Mehta highlighted the lack of safety measures around the construction trench as a major lapse that contributed to his son’s death. He criticized the authorities for their negligence in not securing the area and failing to provide timely assistance during the emergency. Despite his hopes for justice, he expressed deep disappointment in the lack of concrete actions taken after the inquiry.
Questioning the effectiveness of the SIT investigation, Mehta emphasized the need for stricter actions against those found responsible. He stressed the importance of holding negligent officials accountable to prevent such incidents from recurring. Mehta’s plea extends beyond seeking justice for his son, aiming for improved safety measures to avert similar tragedies in the future.
