Cricket is set to make a comeback at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, 128 years after its debut in the 1900 Paris Games. The upcoming Olympics will feature a modernized version of cricket, including separate T20 tournaments for men and women, each with gold, silver, and bronze medals up for grabs. The men’s and women’s competitions will take place from July 12 to July 29, with the medal matches scheduled for July 20 (women’s) and July 29 (men’s).
In the LA 2028 Olympics, six teams will compete in both the men’s and women’s categories, totaling 28 matches. Each gender will have 90 athlete quotas, enabling teams to field a 15-member squad. All cricket matches during the event will be held at a temporary venue in Pomona’s Fairgrounds, located approximately 50 kilometers from Los Angeles. The qualification process for the LA28 Olympics is yet to be finalized, with discussions likely to occur during the ICC’s annual conference in Singapore starting on July 17.
