Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections in Guwahati. The manifesto, with 31 key commitments, aims at fostering growth in various sectors for a secure and self-reliant Assam. Sitharaman highlighted the BJP’s governance track record and commitment to inclusive development in the state.
The manifesto launch event was graced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and state BJP president Dilip Saikia, among other party leaders. Sitharaman emphasized that the BJP’s promises are based on performance and accountability, not just mere pledges. She also compared the organizational presence of BJP and Congress in Assam, pointing out the BJP’s extensive grassroots network.
Chief Minister Sarma noted that the manifesto builds on the current government’s achievements and aims to enhance development, especially in healthcare, education, and connectivity. The BJP is gearing up for a crucial electoral battle in Assam, with the manifesto set to shape its campaign narrative for the upcoming polls. The party leaders are optimistic that the commitments outlined in the Sankalp Patra will strike a chord with voters and secure a strong mandate in the elections.
The Assam Legislative Assembly, comprising 126 members, will undergo elections on April 9 in a single phase, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.
